Freshmen Residents

First year resident freshmen are identified by Undergraduate Admissions. The classification is based on high school graduation and first semester at the university, not on college credit hours earned. All resident freshmen will remain the same classification for the entire academic year.

First year resident freshmen with vehicles must apply for a permit following the process under ‘Student Permits’. The orange ‘F’ permit is attached to your vehicles and valid for parking at the Satellite Lot located at UMBC South Campus. UMBC transit provides a bus route to the Satellite Lot. Schedules for the Halethorpe/Satellite line are available at: UMBC Transit.

Freshmen residents are restricted from parking on the main campus from 9:00 AM – 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Your vehicle may remain parked on the Satellite Lot at all times; however, you have the option to park on Stadium Lot outside of the restricted hours with the F permit properly displayed.

The resident freshmen parking restriction begins on the first day of classes for fall and spring semester. During the winter and summer sessions, resident freshmen may park on the main campus in Zones ‘A’, ‘B’ or ‘C’ with their ‘F’ permit properly displayed.

Exceptions to the parking restriction will be granted to those who have a valid medical or educational need as determined by Student Judicial Programs. Submit the completed form located under Parking Appeals at Student Judicial Programs with supporting documentation for consideration.
